New page

The Psion Series 5 Service Manual is Psion Computers PLC's own 46-page service manual for the Psion Series 5, dated November 1997. It covers the circuit description, exploded views with Psion part numbers for every moulding, screw and spring, the spares kits, the full disassembly and reassembly procedure, and the factory Final Test procedure including the Fail Ticket fault codes.

It was written for the Series 5, not the 5mx. The two machines share the same mechanical platform, so the exploded views, part numbers, disassembly sequence and reassembly cautions apply to both — but the electronics differ, and Psion themselves noted that the mainboards, screens and other internal components are not interchangeable between the two.

It is the primary reference for the Psion Series 5mx General Maintenance, Psion Series 5mx Troubleshooting Guide and Psion Series 5mx Hinge Repair guides.
