The processor can be replaced with a full 68040 to add FPU functionality. The system bus operates at 33 MHz. The 630 includes 1 MB of ROM. == Memory and Storage == === RAM Configuration === The Performa 630 ships with 4 MB of RAM soldered to the logic board. A single 72-pin SIMM socket allows expansion up to 36 MB total (4 MB onboard + 32 MB SIMM). 80 ns non-parity SIMMs are required.<ref>{{cite web |url=https://everymac.com/systems/apple/mac_performa/specs/mac_performa_630.html |title=Macintosh Performa 630 Specs |publisher=EveryMac.com |access-date=2026-02-10}}</ref> === Storage Systems === The Performa 630 was the first desktop Macintosh to use an IDE hard drive interface rather than SCSI, reducing manufacturing costs.
