With built-in MIDI In and MIDI Out ports — a feature present on all ST models — the Mega ST was widely adopted in professional music studios. The 68000's interrupt-driven MIDI timing proved exceptionally stable compared to competing platforms of the era, with jitter typically below 1 ms.
