== What it settles == * Color Classic (p. 10): 4 MB soldered; two 30-pin slots that must both be filled; 100 ns; 1, 2 or 4 MB SIMMs; 10 MB addressable, so two 4 MB SIMMs leave 2 MB unaddressed; 256K VRAM plus one 256K VRAM SIMM to 512K. * LC 550 (p. 37): 4 MB soldered; one 72-pin slot, 80 ns, 1 to 32 MB SIMMs, 36 MB maximum; 512K VRAM soldered, 1 MB maximum. * Macintosh Portable (p. 98): 1 MB of soldered static RAM, one expansion slot, static RAM cards of 1 to 8 MB to a 9 MB maximum, 100 ns, no virtual memory. Backlit Portable (p. 99): 1 MB soldered, pseudostatic RAM cards of 1 to 7 MB to an 8 MB maximum. * Original iMac (p. 92): 144-pin SDRAM SO-DIMMs in two slots on the processor board, one used by the factory module; 128 MB maximum on the M6709LL/A and 256 MB on the later models; an EDO or SGRAM module makes the machine beep several times at startup. * Slot-loading iMac, iMac DV and DV Special Edition (p. 96): two PC-100 168-pin SDRAM DIMM slots under the computer, up to 256 MB each; no soldered system RAM, so the machine will not run with both slots empty. * iBook and iBook Special Edition (p. 122): 32 MB or 64 MB soldered and one 144-pin SO-DIMM slot, 160 MB or 320 MB maximum. * Workgroup Server 9150 (p. 131): 8 MB soldered; pairs of 4, 8, 16 or 32 MB 72-pin SIMMs to 264 MB; runs in 32-bit mode at all times. AWS 95 (p. 126): no soldered DRAM; 9-bit parity SIMMs as shipped, non-parity SIMMs accepted with parity checking disabled; no composite SIMMs.
