== Hardware == DEC's service manual lists three ISA expansion slots, the OPTi 496/497 chip set, dual IDE interfaces, a 32-bit local bus SVGA controller with 512 KB of VRAM (another 512 KB optional), an optional external cache, and room for four storage devices.<ref name="smm11" /> The 486 CPU modules have a vacancy socket for an Intel OverDrive or upgrade processor; the 433dxLP module has 128 KB of secondary cache, expandable to 256 KB.<ref name="cpu743" /> David Hall found the 425sx module's processor soldered and the others socketed, and recommends DEC's S3 924 graphics drivers.<ref name="zx" /> Memory is fitted in four banks of 36-bit SIMMs of 70 ns or faster, 4 MB or 16 MB only, in the combinations DEC's table allows, up to 64 MB.<ref name="smm32" /> The BIOS has no automatic hard disk detection and no LBA support; user-defined drive types 48 and 49 take manual cylinder, head and sector values.<ref name="zx" /> There is a turbo LED but no turbo button: CPU speed is set on page 3 of BIOS Setup.<ref name="zx" /> The machine is powered by an AT-style supply whose switch sits inside the supply, worked from the front button through a linkage.<ref name="zx" /> One of David Hall's machines has a Delta DPS-145PB-4 rated at 145.5 W, carrying the DEC barcode 30-38882-01.<ref name="psu" /> See [[DECpc LP Power Supply Service]].
