=== Matching the photographs ===

With Psion's launcher and button bar lost, their layout and shading were measured from the photographs. The only images of PsionLX running are hand-held photographs of a glossy panel, so raw pixel values are unusable. Two methods made them measurable:<ref name="rtc-docs" />

* Each row of a photograph is divided by the page white at the same height, which removes the lamp's top-to-bottom gradient.
* The display is rectified onto an 800 × 600 grid, then checked against two sizes known from the code: the button bar's buttons are 64 pixels wide and the bar is 48 pixels tall. They came back at 63-64 and 46 pixels. A caption known to be black text came back as <code>#101115</code>, which served as a colour check.

The measurements that went into the rebuilt launcher: group labels in Sans Bold 7 on a <code>#c2def1</code> band; a tab strip 26 pixels wide (a 23-pixel gold face and three border columns); tabs 101 pixels tall. The selected tab is marked by the direction of its shading rather than its colour: a raised tab is lit from the page side and a selected one from the outer side, while their average colours differ by about 1.5 per cent. The button bar has room for nine 64-pixel buttons, Desk and Docs, six presets and Other, taken from a true 800 × 600 screenshot of GPE running on a netBook Pro with the same bar.<ref name="rtc-docs" />
