== Hinge ribbon cable failure == The Stacy's LCD ribbon cable passes through the hinge assembly connecting the display to the base unit. Repeated opening and closing of the display causes mechanical stress on this cable, leading to intermittent or permanent connection failures. === Diagnosis === # Connect an external monitor to verify the Stacy boots correctly. # Gently flex the display at various angles while watching the LCD. If the image appears and disappears, the ribbon cable has fractured at the hinge point. # Visually inspect the cable through the hinge area under magnification. === Repair === * Replacement ribbon cables are not readily available as off-the-shelf parts. * A damaged cable can sometimes be repaired by carefully soldering fine wire bridges across broken traces. * Alternatively, a custom flex cable can be fabricated to the original specifications.
