The 5200 and 6200 families are the Macintoshes most often written about second-hand, and the
folklore has drifted a long way from what Apple actually documented. Apple ran a genuine

on the Power Macintosh/Performa 52xx and 53xx (''except'' the 5260 and 5280). The checks are

A "Version B" logic board is identified by a '''B''' at the end of the serial number printed

Apple also required the EMI clips to be replaced on any machine where the logic board was not
being replaced, because the clips prevent damage to the board when expansion cards are

Two cautions that follow from Apple's own wording:
