The SIO (Serial Input/Output) port is the primary peripheral connection. Inspect for:
* '''Bent or broken pins''' — The SIO connector has 13 pins. Bent pins can cause connection failures with disk drives, printers, and cassette recorders.
* '''Corrosion''' — Clean with IPA and a small brush if green or white deposits are visible.
* '''Loose socket''' — The SIO port is soldered directly to the PCB. Cracked solder joints can cause intermittent connectivity. Reflow solder joints if necessary.
