The Apple Multiple Scan 1705 Display volume of Apple's Service Source is a 165-page service manual for the Multiple Scan 1705, a 17-inch colour display supplied with a Macintosh-to-VGA adapter for PC use. The PDF was distilled on 20 January 1996. * Apple specifies its own high-voltage probe, part 076-0392, and a 246 or L-248 light meter (or a colour analyser or photometer) for adjustments; its readings assume those instruments. * High voltage: with the rear housing and EMI shield off and the display running, the Apple probe under the anode connector should read 25 V DC on the meter, which is 25 kV. Do not remove the probe until the power is off. * The front indicator light goes out 10 seconds after adjusting stops, by design. * Whenever the display is taken apart, reset the degaussing coils: at least 50 mm from the CRT corner screws at the top, their overlap taped together, and 30 mm from the canceling coil on the yoke at the bottom. == Contents == * Basics: Overview, Features, Troubleshooting and Repair Tips, Special Tools (PDF pp. 3-7) * Specifications: Characteristics, Controls and Ports, Physical and Electrical, Environmental (PDF pp. 9-17) * Troubleshooting: General, First Checklist, Symptom Charts for No Raster, Video, Geometry and Miscellaneous, Checking High Voltage, No Raster Flowchart (PDF pp. 19-37) * Take Apart: Special Safety Precautions, Monitor Stand, Control Panel Cover, Rear Housing, EMI Shield, Main Deflection and CRT/Video Boards and Rear Fence, Bezel, Brightness and Contrast Knobs, On/Off Switch with Spring, Control Panel Cover Latch, Rear Fence, Internal Video and AC Inlet Assembly, Video Interconnect Cable (PDF pp. 39-106) * Additional Procedures: Introduction, Adjusting the Degaussing Coils (PDF pp. 108-113) * Adjustments: User Adjustments, Non User Adjustments (PDF pp. 115-163) * Exploded View (PDF p. 165) == What this manual does not contain == No parts list, schematic, component values or fuse rating. == Related pages == * Apple Multiple Scan 720 Display Service Source: Apple's Display Service Utility uses the same "Multiple Scan 720/1705" pattern set for both displays. * Apple Multiple Scan 17 Service Source * CRT Discharge Procedure <pdf> File:Multiple scan 1705 display.pdf </pdf> Download: Multiple scan 1705 display.pdf == References == <references />
