Apple Service Guide Laserwriter Printers January 1992

The Apple Service Guide for LaserWriter Printers, Volume I is Apple's pocket on-site service guide for its first two generations of laser printers: the LaserWriter and LaserWriter Plus, the LaserWriter II SC/NT/NTX/IIf/IIg, and the Personal LaserWriter SC/NT/LS. Apple's part number is 072-0631-B and the running footer throughout is ASG-LaserWriter Printers Jan 92.

Unlike the Service Source volumes it condenses, the Apple Service Guide was written to be carried to a customer site, and each printer gets a short self-contained booklet with the same headings.

Page numbering restarts within each booklet, so cite the printer and the booklet page rather than a PDF page number.

The guide also carries Apple's on-site information-gathering checklist, its safety pages (high-voltage warning, invisible laser radiation warning, toner safety, ESD rules) and instructions for connecting to a Macintosh and to an MS-DOS computer.

What this guide does not contain

Apple says so itself, in the guide: "The following parts list is not comprehensive. Only selected service modules and replacement parts are listed. When ordering a replacement module or spare part, be sure to check the part number in the guide against the current price pages in the Apple Service Programs manual." So the part numbers here are a selection, and possibly superseded. There is no schematic and no component-value list; the wiring diagram shows interconnection only. It is a condensation, and Apple states it does not replace the Apple Service Technical Procedures or Service Source.

This is a third scan of the same January 1992 guide. Its cover reads LaserWriter Printers Service Guide January 1992 without "Volume I" - Volume II did not exist until September 1993 - but the running footers (ASG-LaserWriter Printers Jan 92) and the contents match the other two copies:
