Categories help organise the wiki so editors and readers can find related content. Every article should have at least one category.
Adding a Category
editAdd categories at the bottom of an article, one per line:
[[Category:Apple Vintage Computers]] [[Category:Compact Macintosh]]
Finding the Right Category
editBrowse Special:Categories to see all existing categories. Common top-level categories include:

editMore specific categories exist within the top-level ones:
- Category:Nintendo Service Manuals (subcategory of Service Manuals + Nintendo)
- Category:Sega Schematics (subcategory of Schematics + Sega)
- Category:Apple Troubleshooting Guides (subcategory of Troubleshooting Guides)
Creating a New Category
editIf you need a category that doesn't exist:
- Add the category tag to your article:
[[Category:New Category Name]] - The category will appear as a red link — click it to create the category page
- Add a brief description and a parent category
Category page example:
A brief description of what belongs in this category. [[Category:Parent Category]]
Tips
edit- Don't over-categorise — use the most specific category that fits
- Check existing categories first — avoid creating duplicates
- Every article needs at least one category — uncategorised pages are hard to find
- Categories are case-sensitive — "Apple vintage computers" ≠ "Apple Vintage Computers"
