  • The "Ten Rules to CRT Safety" — do not work on a monitor alone; remove jewellery; never wear a grounding wrist strap or heel strap or work on a grounded mat while discharging a CRT or making live adjustments; wear safety goggles because the tube can implode; switch off and disconnect the mains before working inside; keep one hand in your pocket when anything is live; always discharge the anode before touching anything inside; never touch the anode connector or aperture; never handle a CRT by its neck; and never touch the back of the power switch, the yoke wires, the anode connector, the anode wire or the flyback transformer on a live set.
  • The stated anode potential of up to 12,000 volts DC on a compact Macintosh, and the statement that the anode can retain several thousand volts with the power off and can regain some charge after being discharged.
  • The discharge procedure itself, including the warning that the anode must be discharged to the metal ground lug and that failure to do so will damage the logic board, and the instruction to establish an ongoing ground with a crocodile lead from the ground lug to the anode aperture to drain residual charge while working.
  • The CRT devacuuming and disposal procedure.
