Introduction To Laserwriter Service 2.0 1997
Introduction to LaserWriter Service, version 2.0, is Apple's general laser-printer service training course, a 166-page document, copyright 1992 and 1997 Apple Computer, Inc. The PDF's creation date is 10 January 1997.[1] Page numbers below are the course's own, which match the PDF page numbers.
It teaches the principles common to all LaserWriters, not the procedures for one model: printer features and connections, setup, how a page is described and transferred to the printer, the print engine, and a general troubleshooting method.[1]

What it settles
[edit | edit source]The print cycle is set out as six stages: drum charging, image formation, development, transfer, fusing and cleaning the drum.[2] The quick checks Apple recommends before detailed troubleshooting are: power and power connection; all cables; toner cartridge fitted, not empty and with its sealing tape removed; paper cassette fitted with paper; all access doors closed; status lights; print density setting; switch settings; and whether the printer produces a user test page, which some LaserWriters have switched off in software.[3]
What this manual does not contain
[edit | edit source]There are no model-specific procedures, parts lists, schematics or component values. It refers to QuickTime movies that were on Apple's CD and are not in this PDF.[1] For individual printers see LaserWriter II Service Source, LaserWriter Plus Service Source, LaserWriter Pro 600/630 Service Source and LaserWriter 10/600 A3+ Service Source.
