Psion Series 7 User Guide

From RetroTechCollection

The Psion Series 7 User Guide is Psion Computers Plc's own 226-page user guide for the Psion Series 7, version 1.0, August 1999, part number 6131-0004-01. The FCC compliance block identifies the product as "Series 7, Models: 16M/32M".

It is a user manual rather than a service document โ€” Psion published no service manual, spare parts list or exploded diagram for the Series 7 or netBook that has survived in public hands. What it does give a repairer is Psion's own account of correct behaviour: the reset procedures, the control panel, memory management, the backup battery, and what the machine is supposed to do at each stage. That is the baseline against which a fault is judged.

For the Series 7's hardware limits, the manufacturer source is the Psion Teklogix netBook FAQ, which states that the Series 7 PC Card slot is limited to 200 mA โ€” the hard number behind the machine's long-standing reputation for refusing high-current cards.

It is a reference for Psion Series 7 General Maintenance, Psion Series 7 Troubleshooting Guide and Psion Series 7 Battery Service.
