Apple 5.25 Drive and UniDisk Technical Procedures

The Apple 5.25 Drive / UniDisk Technical Procedures are the section for the Apple 5.25 Drive and the 5.25-inch UniDisk in Apple's Apple Service Technical Procedures: Apple II Family, Volume Two (part number 072-0229, November 1991 build). The section has 33 pages; its contents page is dated October 1989 and its sections were revised between October 1986 and May 1991.[1]

What it settles

  • The Apple 5.25 Drive has the same mechanism as the UniDisk plus a security lock connector, and all procedures for the two are the same (p. 1.2).
  • The mechanical assembly is shared with the DuoDisk; the doors and sub-bezels differ by colour and model (p. 2.2).
  • The DSPEED adjustment hole is next to the right-hand front rubber foot (p. 3.2).

What this document does not contain

Module-level service only: no schematic and no component values for the analog card. The DSPEED procedure refers to the separate Multi-Product Diagnostics section of the same volume, which is not in this extract.
