Apple Color Plus 14 Display Service Source

From RetroTechCollection

The Apple Color Plus 14" Display volume of Apple's Service Source is an 8-page service document for the Apple Color Plus 14-inch display. The PDF was distilled on 14 November 1995.

Specifications as printed

The 31.5 kHz horizontal rate at 67 Hz vertical is the giveaway that this is a fixed-frequency 640 x 480 monitor and will not sync to a machine set to 832 x 624.

Contents

  • Specifications - Characteristics, Controls, Physical and Electrical, Operating Environment (pdf pp. 3-6)
  • Troubleshooting - "Before Replacing the Unit . . ." (pdf pp. 7-8)

What this manual does not contain

[edit | edit source]

Almost everything. There is no Take Apart, no Adjustments, no Exploded View and no symptom chart. The entire Troubleshooting chapter is a single page headed "Before Replacing the Unit . . .", because Apple's repair strategy for this display was whole-unit exchange. No parts list, no schematic, no component values, no fuse rating, no rail figures. A reader intending to recap or realign one of these gets nothing from this document except the scan rates and the two mains ranges.

A note on duplication

[edit | edit source]

Apple Color Plus 14 Service Source embeds the same file, Color plus 14 display.pdf. One document, two page titles.
