Creative Programming in Microsoft BASIC for Optimal Macintosh Performance 1985
Creative Programming in Microsoft BASIC for Optimal Macintosh Performance is a book by Steve Lambert, published by Microsoft Press, Bellevue, Washington, © 1985, ISBN 0-914845-57-8, Library of Congress card number 85-18952. The printed book runs to x + 535 pages; the scan has 535 PDF pages.[1]
The book teaches Microsoft BASIC on the Macintosh through long worked programs: a paint program, terminal and communications programs, two games, and data acquisition and control software. It is a Microsoft Press book, separate from Microsoft's own manual for the interpreter (Microsoft Basic Interpreter 1984).[1]
Unlike most programming books in this collection, it includes hardware material. Chapter 10 gives the pin assignments of the Macintosh nine-pin serial ports (pin 2 +5 V, pin 6 filtered +12 V, TXD and RXD as differential pairs on pins 4/5 and 8/9) with cable wiring for connecting to other machines. Chapter 17 uses the ADC-1, a 16-channel 12-bit converter from Remote Measurement Systems of Seattle, and Appendix C gives the schematics, parts list, point-to-point wire list and assembly instructions for the HBC-1, an analog-to-digital converter that the reader builds and connects to the Macintosh serial port.[1]
