The DECpc 325P is a 386SL notebook computer sold by Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) from November 1992. Wikipedia's list of DECpc models gives its processor as a 25 MHz 80386SL, its screen as a 10-inch monochrome passive-matrix LCD, and its maker as PTCC, the company that also built the DECpc 320P.[1] InfoWorld reviewed it in November 1992 under the headline "Notebook from DEC is a battery miser".[1]

Identification

[edit | edit source]

The rating label on the underside gives:[2]

  • Model PCP12, with the number 582DC1 above "Notebook Computer".
  • FCC ID ACJ9TG25-3573. The DECpc 320P's is ACJ9TG25-3572, the next number in the same series.[4]
  • DC input 22.8 V at 0.88 A, from a certified Class 2 supply.
  • Assembled in the USA.

The Maynard Historical Society's example measures 2 × 8.5 × 11.5 inches; the society dates it to about 1991.[3]

The keyboard has a trackball with two buttons between the keys and the screen hinge, and its function keys carry Fn legends in blue like those on the DECpc 320P.[5]

Documentation

[edit | edit source]

Bitsavers, archive.org and the Manx catalogue list no DEC user guide, technical reference or service manual for the DECpc 325P. The 386SL notebooks that DEC sold under the names DECpc 325SL and 325SLC came from a different maker, AST Research, so their manuals do not apply.[1]
