DECpc LP Documentation
DECpc LP Documentation describes Digital Equipment Corporation's service manual and CPU module booklets for the DECpc LP range, with the PDF of each.
DECpc LP PC Service Maintenance Manual (K-MN-SD00000-21-JG00.A)
[edit | edit source]Written by DEC's MCS Logistics Engineering group in Nijmegen and dated March 1996, 54 pages, order number K-MN-SD00000-21-JG00.A. The file is DEC's electronic edition, made from a word-processor document, so the text is searchable. It covers the 333sxLP, 340dxLP, 425sxLP, 433dxLP, 450d2LP and 466d2LP.[1]
Contents: 1 product description and models (pp. 11–12); 2 system utilities and BIOS Setup options; 3 service procedures (safety and tools p. 23, cover p. 26, main logic board jumpers p. 28, 450D2LP/466D2LP CPU board jumpers p. 30, memory configurations p. 32, removal of diskette drives, disk tray, main logic board and power supply p. 38, bus expansion board, battery replacement p. 40, drive cabling p. 41); 4 troubleshooting (initial steps p. 43, beep codes p. 44, POST messages p. 45, computer, disk and monitor tables pp. 47–50, QAPlus/FE messages p. 51); 5 device mapping; 6 pass/fail criteria (p. 57); appendices for service notes (empty) and related documentation.[1]
The manual has line drawings of the components, jumper locations, SIMM sockets and board connections, but it gives no power supply ratings, no schematics and no parts list. Its 450D2LP/466D2LP CPU board jumper table has evident errors (J103 listed for two functions, identical clock settings for 25 MHz and 33 MHz); the CPU module booklets below are the better source. Its product introduction says 2 MB of standard memory, while its memory section says at least 4 MB.[1]

CPU module booklets
[edit | edit source]DEC shipped a 16-page CPU specifications booklet with each upgradable model, printed in Taiwan in August 1992. Each covers the module's jumper settings, the vacancy socket for an upgrade processor and the secondary cache sockets.[2]

[edit | edit source]The service manual lists the DECpc 300/400 LP User's Guide (ER-PC740-UA), the Getting Started Handbook (ER-PC700-GA) and the DECpc LP Quick Reference Guide (EK-A0899-RG).[1] No copy of these was found. David Hall holds the separate DECpc 325/333 sxLP User's Guide (ER-PC733-UA.A01).[3]
