Digital HiNote Ultra User's Guide (ER-P70WW-UA.A01)

[edit | edit source]

DEC's owner's guide, part number ER-P70WW-UA.A01, November 1994, 99 pages. The file is DEC's electronic edition from its support site, so the text is searchable.[1]

Contents: 1 introduction (features, restarting and turning off, passwords, Kensington lock); 2 configuring the computer with Setup (power, system, device, security and defaults menus); 3 power management (battery and performance hot keys, power button modes, suspend, lid switch, reset button); 4 PCMCIA utilities and drivers; 5 external devices and the Floppy Dock; 6 problem solving and troubleshooting (initial steps, notebook, beep, PCMCIA, LCD, audio and IR tables); 7 options (car adapter, battery charger, expansion dock, memory module); appendices A technical specifications (computer, AC adapter, lithium-ion battery pack, acoustics, environment), B POST messages and beep codes, C device mapping.[1]

It is a user's guide: no disassembly, no schematics and no parts list. The front matter carries the warning to replace the clock battery with a Sanyo CR1220 only.[1]

[edit | edit source]
  • Digital's REVIVE.COM utility with its README of 18 February 1997, for lithium-ion packs of the HiNote Ultra and Ultra II that the computer no longer detects.[2]
  • A floppy image of the BIOS 1.42 update for the CT450 and CT475, made from DEC's 0000009R.EXE.[3]

Not online
