HyperTalk Bible 1989
The Waite Group's HyperTalk Bible is a HyperTalk language reference and tutorial by Mitchell Waite, Stephen Prata and Tud Jones, published by Hayden Books, a division of Howard W. Sams & Company, Indianapolis (first edition, first printing 1989; ISBN 0-672-48430-7; Library of Congress 89-63209). Its technical reviewer was Rod Riggenback of Apple Computer.[1]
It covers HyperTalk version 1.2.2. The endpapers carry a syntax summary of keywords, commands and functions with page references, and a section near the end lists the enhancements in HyperCard 1.2.2 that affect scripts (p. 646).[1] The printed text runs to p. 692 after the front matter; the scan has 727 PDF pages.[1]

[edit | edit source]The chapters work through HyperTalk by topic, each ending with review questions and exercises. They include objects and the message hierarchy (p. 57), audio and visual effects (p. 101), simple maths (p. 161), the keyboard (p. 247), if statements (p. 269), text chunks and strings, date and time (p. 379), maths functions (p. 399), advanced sound (p. 461) and menu simulation with doMenu (p. 487).[1]
It is a programming book, with no hardware information.
