Mac Game Programming 2002
Mac Game Programming is a 2002 book by Mark Szymczyk in Premier Press's Game Development series (series editor André LaMothe), ISBN 1-931841-18-7, Library of Congress card number 2001096218. The technical reviewer was Darrell Walisser. It came with a CD-ROM of the book's source code, third-party development tools, game assets and Mac games.[1][2] The Library of Congress record gives xxxviii, 839 pages; the scan has 882, and the file is about 230 MB.[2]
The book builds a 2D game in C++ with Carbon, using Project Builder, and covers the Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X input and display APIs of the time (InputSprocket, the HID Manager, DrawSprocket), sound with the Sound Manager and QuickTime, game physics, AI and pathfinding, and profiling and AltiVec optimisation.[3] The catalogue record gives the requirements for the book's code as a PowerPC Macintosh with Mac OS 8.1 or later and a C++ compiler.[2]
