Regular Cleaning

Internal Cleaning

PRAM Battery

Battery Replacement

FPU Installation

The LC III+ provides a PGA socket for an optional Motorola 68882 FPU:

2. Remove the top case and locate the FPU socket.
3. Align pin 1 of the 68882 with pin 1 on the socket.
4. Press the FPU straight down into the socket.
5. Use a 33 MHz or faster rated 68882 for compatibility.

Floppy Drive Maintenance

The SuperDrive may require periodic cleaning:

• Clean the read/write heads with isopropyl alcohol on a lint-free swab.
• Lubricate the eject mechanism lightly with silicone-based lubricant.
• Check the drive belt if disks fail to eject or insert properly.

Storage Recommendations

For long-term storage:

• Remove the PRAM battery.
• Store in a cool, dry location.
• Use anti-static bags for the logic board if removed.
• Avoid areas with temperature extremes or high humidity.
