What it settles

  • Memory: eight DIMM slots, up to 512 MB, using 168-pin, 64-bit, 70 ns or faster EDO or fast-page DIMMs of 8 to 64 MB; DIMMs can go in any slot, but interleaving needs pairs in paired slots (A1 and B1, A2 and B2 and so on) (p. 98).
  • Video memory: 2 MB on two 1 MB VRAM DIMMs in the bank 1 slots, expandable to 4 MB with two more in the bank 2 slots; 112-pin, 70 ns, fast-page (p. 99).
  • The security bar under the front panel and its screw (pp. 92–93, 101).
  • The voltage switch on the back (pp. 4, 6, 100).
  • Apple leaves clock battery replacement to a service provider (p. 166).
