RetroTechCollection:Verification drive
A wiki-wide verification drive is under way.
An audit of all 1,455 content pages on this wiki found that a large number of repair pages carry component values, voltages and measurements that were never cited to a source. Spot checks against manufacturer service manuals and established references found real errors — including wrong capacitance values and voltage ratings specified below the rail they sit on.
Affected pages carry {{Unverified data}} until each has been checked.
What is being done
[edit source]Every page is being worked through in turn. For each one:
- Every component value, voltage, measurement and part number is checked against a service manual, schematic or established reference.
- Wrong values are corrected.
- Values that cannot be verified are removed rather than left in place — an omission is safer than a plausible invention.
- Each figure gets a citation naming what the source supports.
- The warning is removed only once the whole page is verified.
What a reader should do meanwhile
[edit source]- Check any component value against your own board and against a schematic before ordering parts.
- Treat procedures and symptom descriptions as a guide, not as verified fact, on any page still carrying the notice.
- If you spot an error, please report it — corrections are welcome and wanted.
