The Apple Monitor IIc (A2M4090) is the small monochrome monitor Apple sold with the Apple IIc. It has a 9-inch screen and was introduced in 1984 in the same off-white Snow White styling as the computer. Its user's manual carries a 1984 copyright and part number 030-0941-A. Sams's ComputerFacts cover the monitor, as model A2M4090, in the same set as the IIc itself (A2S4000). The monitor contains a CRT. Read CRT Discharge Procedure before opening it. == Setting up == Apple's manual puts the monitor either on the optional IIc tilt stand or on a desk or sturdy shelf next to the computer, and says not to put it on top of the computer without the stand, nor in direct sunlight or near heat. The video cable supplied with the monitor runs from the IIc's video port to the monitor, and the mains lead must go to an earthed outlet. The power button and the contrast control are on the sides of the cabinet; the power button has an indicator light. Vertical hold, vertical size and brightness are on the back. To set the picture, turn contrast fully up, turn brightness up until the background lines show and back until they just disappear, then set contrast for comfortable text. == Care == The manual's rules are short: no drinks on the monitor, keep the vents clear, unplug the video and power cables before moving it, and lift it by the hand recess built into the case. Clean the cabinet with a damp lint-free cloth without letting water into the vents, and avoid aerosol sprays and solvents, which damage the finish. Wipe the etched, non-glare screen with a dry lint-free cloth and keep fingers off it, because skin oil makes dust stick. == Service == Apple serviced the Monitor IIc only by exchange. Its Technical Procedures for the monitor contain a serial number transfer procedure and an illustrated parts list and nothing else: the dealer wrote the customer's serial number on a transparent label over the label of a service-stock monitor, gave the customer that monitor and returned the faulty one to Apple. The customer kept their own power and video cables. Sams's service data give the parts most likely to be needed. The list in the IIc set's preliminary service checks names rectifier diodes D701-D704 (G2GD1), fuses F701 (1.5 A 250 V) and F771 (750 mA 250 V), the horizontal output transistor Q18 (BU406) and the DC voltage regulator transistor Q701 (BD534L).<ref name="sams-psc">Howard W.
