Simpson, a human-factors researcher who also wrote Design of User-Friendly Programs for Small Computers and Programming the IBM PC User Interface, covers the design of Macintosh programs in the first half of the book: the user interface and the human factors behind it, worked examples from MacPaint, DaVinci and Multiplan, design principles, Apple's interface conventions and human-factors guidelines.
