Like every model-specific PS/2 pamphlet, it states on its first page that it "is intended to be used with the IBM Personal System/2 Hardware Maintenance Reference manual (part number 15F2190, form number S15F-2190-00) and the IBM Personal System/2 Hardware Maintenance Service manual (part number 15F2200, form number S15F-2200-00)". '''Module level only.''' IBM serviced these machines by field-replaceable-unit exchange, and this pamphlet reflects that: it names FRU part numbers, not component values. There is no capacitor list, no resistor list, no semiconductor list and no schematic anywhere in it. The power supply, the planar and each drive are single line items in the parts catalogue. This is why no IBM machine checked in this wiki's verification drive has a published component-level capacitor list — it is not that the manuals were lost, it is that IBM never wrote one.

It is also '''not a standalone book'''. IBM issued it as a pamphlet to be filed in a binder alongside the general-purpose ''IBM Personal System/2 Hardware Maintenance Reference'' (part number 15F2190, form number S15F-2190-00) and ''Hardware Maintenance Service'' (part number 15F2200, form number S15F-2200-00), which carry the safety information, the general checkout procedure and the option and adapter sections. Those two general volumes are not hosted here.

* Internal DC conversion (S-1): +5 V ±5 % at 2.00 A, -10 V ±20 % at 0.05 A, -18 V ±2 V at 0.03 A, and 300 V AC ±100 V at 30 kHz (5 W maximum).

There is no Symptom-to-FRU index and no parts list with FRU numbers; those were in the separate N45SL Hardware Maintenance Service manual. There is no schematic and no component value. The N45SL is also covered by [[IBM Mobile Systems Hardware Maintenance Manual Volume 1]] (1995).

The N45 SL is also covered, alongside the L40 SX, CL57, N51, P70/P75 and the early ThinkPads, by [[IBM Mobile Systems Hardware Maintenance Manual Volume 1]]. If you are working on an N45 SL, read both: the Volume 1 treatment is the later and fuller of the two.

The IBM PS/note Model N45SL Hardware Maintenance Reference is IBM's service pamphlet for the PS/note N45SL notebook (type 2614), which IBM's introduction describes as a Personal Computer AT-compatible notebook computer. The cover gives the date 15 May 1992, part number 42G0485 and form number S42G-0485-00; the edition notice says First Edition (June 1992). The PDF has 77 pages and is an image-only scan with no text layer; PDF pages 1 and 4 are both the cover, and several pages are blank.

The cover states that the pamphlet "is intended to be used with" the IBM Personal System/2 Hardware Maintenance Reference (part number 15F2190, form number S15F-2190-00) and the Hardware Maintenance Service manual (part number 15F2200, form number S15F-2200-00). Chapter 1 also lists a separate N45SL Hardware Maintenance Service manual, the Guide to Operations and the Advanced Diagnostics diskette as related material.
