'''The file uploaded under this name is truncated and will not open.'''
The '''ThinkPad Computer Hardware Maintenance Manual''' of January 2006 is Lenovo's hardware maintenance manual for the ThinkPad X41 Tablet, part number 39T9290, First Edition (January 2006). The PDF has 140 pages: four front pages, 135 numbered pages and the back cover, which carries the part number.

The upload is '''1,921,024 bytes'''. The PDF's own linearisation dictionary, in the first line of the file, declares a total length of '''7,686,266 bytes''' and '''140 pages''' — so roughly a quarter of the document was transferred and the rest is missing. There is no `%%EOF` marker, no `startxref`, the final object stream is cut off part-way through, and the top-level page tree object was in the part that never arrived.
The title page lists the products supported: ThinkPad X41 Tablet (machine types 1866, 1867 and 1869) and ThinkPad X4 Dock (machine type 2506). The edition notice reads "© Copyright Lenovo 2006. Portions © Copyright International Business Machines Corporation 2006".

Every reader fails on it in the same way, and not because of a viewer problem:
The parts list also gives FRUs for machine type 1868, which the title page does not name.

* `pdfinfo` — "Syntax Error: Invalid XRef entry ... Top-level pages object is wrong type (null)", and it cannot report a page count.
== Contents ==
* `qpdf --check` — "file is damaged ... can't find startxref"; its cross-reference reconstruction runs but cannot recover the page tree, and rewriting the file fails.
* `pdftotext` and `pdftoppm` — no pages to extract or render.

Recovery was attempted with qpdf's cross-reference reconstruction and QDF rewrite. '''It is not recoverable''': the object the whole document hangs from is in the missing three quarters.
Page numbers are the manual's own.

The '''ThinkPad X41 Tablet''' is the convertible-tablet member of the X40 series, sold from 2005. Its hardware maintenance manual is a Lenovo-era publication in the same series as the other late X-series manuals hosted here, which are structured as: about this manual and FRU replacement strategy; safety information; general descriptions and related service information; the checkout guide with the power system checkout; product overview and specifications; the symptom-to-FRU index; FRU replacement notices; the numbered removal and replacement sequence; locations; and the FRU parts list.
The manual works at FRU level. There are no schematics, no board layouts and no component values. The only capacitor mentioned is the "bulging capacitor" hazard in the safety inspection guide (p. 23). It has no model matrix; FRUs for a particular machine are identified through the CTO, CMV and GAV procedure (pp. 4-7).

'''The manual is, in effect, not available on this wiki.''' The page and the download link are left in place deliberately rather than removed, so that the gap is visible and someone who has a good copy can replace it.
The power system checkout (pp. 40-43) gives these limits:

A search of archive.org by title, by machine name and by likely part number found no copy of the ThinkPad X41 Tablet hardware maintenance manual. A ''user'' manual for the X41 Tablet exists on archive.org (as a third-party manuals-site scrape) but that is a different document and carries no service content.

The screw notices (p. 68) specify nylon-coated screws, used only once; the screw pack is P/N 26R9169 (p. 129). The pen (P/N 39T7303, p. 124) and the digitizer assembly (P/N 39T0805, p. 126) are separate FRUs. After a system board replacement the serial number must be written back with the ThinkPad Hardware Maintenance Diskette version 1.71 or later (p. 69).

The ThinkPad Computer Hardware Maintenance Manual of January 2006 is Lenovo's hardware maintenance manual for the ThinkPad X41 Tablet, part number 39T9290, First Edition (January 2006). The PDF has 140 pages: four front pages, 135 numbered pages and the back cover, which carries the part number.

The parts list also gives FRUs for machine type 1868, which the title page does not name.

What this manual does not contain

The manual works at FRU level. There are no schematics, no board layouts and no component values. The only capacitor mentioned is the "bulging capacitor" hazard in the safety inspection guide (p. 23). It has no model matrix; FRUs for a particular machine are identified through the CTO, CMV and GAV procedure (pp. 4-7).

What it settles

The power system checkout (pp. 40-43) gives these limits:

Power system checkout, ThinkPad X41 Tablet (pp. 41-43)
Item Measured at Correct reading
AC adapter Pin 1 to pin 2 (ground) of the adapter plug +15.5 to +17.0 V dc
Battery pack Terminal 1 (+) to terminal 5 (−) +0 to +16.8 V dc; discharged if below +14.4 V
Battery pack, above +14.4 V Resistance between terminals 4 and 5 4 to 30 kΩ
Backup battery Red wire (+) to black wire +2.5 to +3.2 V dc

The specifications (pp. 47-48) list Pentium M 753 (1.2 GHz), 758 (1.5 GHz) and 778 (1.6 GHz) processors, 256 MB or 512 MB on board with one DDR2-533 SO-DIMM slot, Intel 915GM graphics, a 12.1-inch XGA wide-viewing-angle panel, and a 1.8-inch IDE hard disk of 20 to 60 GB.
