DECstation 5000 Documentation describes the Digital Equipment Corporation manuals for the DECstation 5000, with the PDF of each. All five are DEC's own electronic editions, typeset rather than scanned, so the text is searchable.

DECstation 5000/DECsystem 5000 Model 200 Maintenance Guide (EK-370AA-MG-002)

DEC's field service guide for the original Model 200, order number EK-370AA-MG-002, first printed April 1990, second printing October 1990, 269 pages.[1]

Contents: 1 hardware overview (configurations, system unit, controls, connectors, options); 2 service operations (antistatic kit, alternate terminal, covers, serial number plate, terminators and loopbacks, console and operating modes, passwords and the clear-NVR jumper on p. 2-21, booting and shutdown); 3 troubleshooting tools (tests, scripts, error logs); 4 identifying failed FRUs (test messages Table 4-1, LED codes Table 4-2, error log event types and physical addresses); 5 basic hardware (system module and chassis, ESAR chip, memory, keyboard and mouse, power supply on pp. 5-20 to 5-26); appendices A equipment specifications, B recommended spares with part numbers, C console commands, D test commands and messages, E and F registers and test parameters, G console status and error codes.[1]

The guide works down to field-replaceable units only. It has no schematics and no component list for the system module or the power supply.

DECstation/DECsystem 5000 Model 200 Series Maintenance Guide (EK-PM38C-MG-002)

The later guide covering the Model 200, 240 and 260, order number EK-PM38C-MG-002, first printed January 1992, second printing April 1993, 410 pages.[2]

Contents: part I hardware (system overview, CPU modules KN03-GA and KN05-NB, memory types, console modes, alternate terminal, cover and component removal including the power supply on pp. 5-20 to 5-25, storage, keyboards); part II troubleshooting (overview, LED codes Table 9-1, configuration displays, error messages, ULTRIX error logs, troubleshooting tools, flowcharts in chapter 11 for each LED code, no display, memory, SCSI, Ethernet, serial devices, power supply and overheating); part III appendices (specifications for the Model 240 and 260 and peripherals, part numbers, console commands, base system tests, CPU registers, connector pin assignments including the power supply connector, Table F-5).[2]

As with the earlier guide, there is no component-level information.

DECstation 5000 Model 200 Hardware Operator's Guide (EK-366AA-OG-002)

The owner's guide for the Model 200, order number EK-366AA-OG-002, first printed April 1990, second printing October 1990, 221 pages.[3]

Contents: 1 getting started and site requirements; 2 system unit, monitor, keyboard and mouse or tablet (including mouse cleaning, pp. 2-23 to 2-24); 3 Ethernet; 4 internal options; 5 external storage (hard disk, floppy, tape and compact disc drives); 6 optional ThinWire and ThickWire network connections; 7 printers, plotters, modems and console terminals; 8 starting and testing the hardware; 9 troubleshooting (self-tests and Table 9-9, solutions to basic hardware problems); chapter 10 includes console autoconfiguration (p. 10-20); 11 moving the workstation; appendices A specifications, B part numbers, C connector pin assignments.[3]

DECstation 5000 Model 100 Series Maintenance Guide (EK-PM32G-MG-003)

DEC's field service guide for the Model 120, 125, 133 and 150, order number EK-PM32G-MG-003, first printed May 1991, third printing April 1993, 392 pages.[4]

Contents: 1 hardware overview; 2 service operations; 3 troubleshooting tools; 4 identifying failed FRUs (including the power supply flowchart on p. 4-38); 5 base system FRUs (CPU modules of 20, 25, 33 and 50 MHz, memory, the H7826-AA power supply and its fan assembly from p. 5-26); 6 internal drives; appendices A (specifications), C (console commands), D (base system tests and messages) and E (CPU and system registers).[4]

DS5000/200 KN02 System Module Functional Specification

DEC Workstation Systems Engineering's specification for the KN02 system module of the Model 200, 28 pages, 1990. It carries no order number.[5]

Contents: 1 introduction; 2 external interface (rear-panel connectors and the power available on them); 3 power requirements (Table 3-1, KN02 supply currents; Table 3-2, TURBOchannel option power); 4 subsystems (address space, interrupts, processor, memory, system interface including the DS1287 real-time clock in 4.5.3, Ethernet, SCSI, reserved I/O slots and TURBOchannel option slots).[5]

It is a programmer's and designer's document: register maps and timing, no schematics and no service procedures.
