IBM 5110 System Logic Manual
The IBM 5110 System Logic Manual, order number SY31-0552-3 (February 1979), is the fold-out logic diagram set for the IBM 5110 Computing System and the IBM 5114 Diskette Unit. Eighteen sheets.
Sheets useful for power work
edit- Sheet 480, "5110/5114 D.C. Power Distribution" — shows the primary AC power box (line cord, line filter L1, the two AC capacitors C1 and C2, fuse F1, the switch box Sw1, frame ground, and connectors J1 to J4 for the power supply, the cooling fan and the internal tape unit motor); the 5110 DC power supply drawn as a block with its output terminals E1 to E14 shown as they are physically arranged on the power supply PC board; and the distribution of each rail to the logic board, the external I/O interface port, and the attached 5103 printer, 5106 auxiliary tape unit and 5114 diskette unit.
- Sheet 440, "5114 Diskette Unit" — includes the 5114's own AC box and power supply as a component-level schematic: transformer T1, rectifier diodes D1 to D5, capacitors C1 to C5, resistors R1 to R3, fuses F1, F2 and F3 with their ratings, and the diskette drive motor and fan circuits.
Two notes on sheet 480 are worth reading before ordering anything: the power supplies are described as capable of handling a wide range of input voltages and frequencies, with three supplies offered for different voltage ranges (100–124 V 50/60 Hz, 200–235 V 50 Hz, and 235 V 50 Hz for the United Kingdom), and two cooling fans are offered on the same split.
What it does not contain
editThe 5110 DC power supply's internal circuit is not drawn. It appears only as a block with output terminals. The 5114 supply is drawn at component level, but no capacitance or voltage values are printed on the schematic — only reference designators.
