The Performa 5300 was intended as a lower-cost entry point for consumers who did not require CD-ROM functionality. It shares its logic board (codenamed "Cordyceps") with the Performa 5200CD and Performa 5300CD.

The Performa 5300 differs from the Performa 5300CD in the following ways:
