Macintosh Performa 275 Troubleshooting

The Macintosh Performa 275 is a Macintosh Performa rebadge of the Macintosh Color Classic II — the two are the same hardware, sold under different names and bundles.[1] Because the logic board, analog board and power supply are identical, the Macintosh Color Classic II Troubleshooting page applies in full: use it for power, video, capacitor, storage and audio diagnosis.
The Performa 275 is the Color Classic II (an LC 550 logic board with a 33 MHz 68030 and full 32-bit bus in the Color Classic case), sold mainly outside the USA. Capacitor leakage is the dominant fault.
Common faults (shared with the Macintosh Color Classic II)
[edit | edit source]As with the Macintosh Color Classic II, the first steps on any un-serviced unit are to replace the electrolytic capacitors and inspect for PRAM-battery leakage and its corrosion, then confirm the power-supply rails. Full detail, test points and fixes are on Macintosh Color Classic II Troubleshooting.
