This is not an Apple document
[edit | edit source]The page title and its category are misleading. This book is written by an independent author and published by a business-book publisher — Apple had no part in it. Its own front matter carries the usual third-party disclaimer: the information is distributed "on an 'As Is' basis, without warranty", and neither the author nor the publisher accepts liability for anything arising from it. The Apple, LaserWriter and ImageWriter names appear in the book only in its trademark-credits list.
Do not cite it as Apple documentation, and do not cite it for a service figure. Apple's own laser-printer material on this wiki — the Service Source volumes and the Service Guides — is extensive and is the right source.
What it covers

It is a user-level reference: how to print from any Macintosh application, how the printers connect, and what each model can and cannot do. The introduction notes that with the appropriate connections some members of the family can be used with MS-DOS and Windows machines.
What it does not contain
[edit | edit source]No schematic, no parts list, no component values, no FRU numbers, no disassembly, no adjustment procedure and no fault-symptom table. It is a buying-and-using guide.
