On Macintosh Programming: Advanced Techniques is a programming book by Daniel K. Allen, published by Addison-Wesley, Reading, Massachusetts, ©1990 (first printing December 1989); ISBN 0-201-51737-X, Library of Congress 89-39855. The printed book runs to p. 471 (the end of the index); the scan has 503 PDF pages.

Each chapter explains part of the Macintosh system and then lists working tools written in C, Pascal or assembly language under MPW, such as a trap lister, a low-memory global viewer, a resource dumper and FKEYs. The introduction includes a history of the Macintosh models to 1989.

What it does not contain

It is a programming book. Chapter 1's hardware section is a software view (memory map and memory-mapped I/O), with no schematics, parts lists, voltages or service procedures. For hardware figures use Apple's service manuals (Category:Apple Service Source) and developer notes.
