Pages and files on RetroTechCollection are deleted by administrators. A deleted page is hidden from readers but kept in the database, so an administrator can restore it. Every deletion is recorded, with the reason, in the deletion log.

Speedy deletion

[edit source]

Pages that clearly meet one of the criteria below can be deleted without discussion. Any editor can nominate a page with Twinkle's CSD tool (see RetroTechCollection:TW); an administrator checks the nomination and deletes the page.

Code Criterion Applies to
G1 Patent nonsense Pages consisting entirely of incoherent text
G2 Test page Pages created for testing
G3 Pure vandalism Pages created as vandalism, with nothing worth keeping
G4 Recreation of deleted content Pages substantially identical to a previously deleted page
G5 Banned user Pages created by banned users in violation of their ban
G6 Housekeeping Uncontroversial technical deletions, such as broken redirects and orphaned talk pages
G7 Author request Deletion requested by the author, where no one else has edited significantly
G8 Pages dependent on a deleted page Talk pages, subpages and redirects of deleted pages
G10 Attack page Pages that exist only to disparage or threaten
G11 Unambiguous advertising Pages that exist only to promote a product or organisation
G12 Copyright infringement Pages copied from a copyrighted source without citing it, where the citation cannot be added
A1 No meaningful content Very short articles with no useful information
A2 No context Articles without enough context to identify the subject
A3 No content Articles with only external links, categories or templates
R1 Redirect to a page that does not exist
R2 Redirect from an implausible typo

Other deletions

[edit source]

Where deletion is not clear-cut, raise it on the page's talk page or on the Village Pump first, so that others can comment before an administrator decides. Often a page can be merged into another or turned into a redirect instead.

Files are deleted when a copyright holder asks for their removal (see RetroTechCollection:Copyright violations), when copyrighted material has no citation and none can be found, or as housekeeping. Before deleting a file, administrators check which pages use it.

If your page was deleted

[edit source]

The deletion log gives the administrator's name and the reason. Ask that administrator on their talk page to explain the deletion or restore the page.
