What it settles

[edit | edit source]

Section 9 is a component-level parts list. It covers the power supply board as well as the motherboard, CPU and RAM cards, with each capacitor's type, value and voltage against its designator. Together with Figure 2-4 it documents the 400's internal supply: 9 V AC in, a bridge rectifier, a 7805 with a 33 Ω 2 W resistor across it for +5 V, a voltage doubler and a 78M12 for +12 V, and a −5 V supply that includes the power LED.

Table 5-1 gives the clock frequencies at named pins (1.789 MHz and 3.579 MHz), and the symptom checklist in Section 6 maps each symptom to designators on each board.

Section 8 describes the joystick as five calculator-type keypads on a small board, four under the stick and one under the button, and gives the paddle as a 1 MΩ potentiometer.
