Cited on this wiki for what actually comes out of a venting capacitor (vaporised hydrogen and electrolyte at over 100 degrees C, not combustion smoke), the first-aid guidance (flush eyes with water; wash skin with soap and water), the instruction that capacitors must not be exposed to acidic or alkaline solutions, the recommended storage conditions (5-35 degrees C, 75 per cent RH or less), the requirement to discharge a capacitor before removing it, and the defined failure modes (short, open, capacitance drop / high ESR, and pressure-relief vent operation).
Note that Nichicon publishes no pH figure for the electrolyte and recommends washing rather than neutralising - which is why this wiki no longer tells readers to neutralise capacitor residue with an alkali.
