PDP-11/70 Documentation

PDP-11/70 Documentation covers two DEC documents for the PDP-11/70, with the PDF of each, and lists further material on bitsavers.

PDP-11/70 Maintenance and Installation Manual (EK-11070-MM-002)

edit

DEC's PDP-11/70 Maintenance and Installation Manual, second edition May 1979 (preliminary edition November 1975, first edition January 1977), 363 scanned pages without a text layer.[1]

Contents:[1]

  1. General description: configuration tables for the processor and the MJ11 and MK11 memory cabinets, related documents and drawings.
  2. Specifications: processor and memory electrical, power and heat, mechanical, environmental; RH70 peripherals; Unibus interface.
  3. Installation: site preparation, AC power checks, system checkout and bootstraps (M9301-YC, M9301-YH, M9312), MJ11 and MK11 memory expansion with voltage checks, add-on options.
  4. Power system (pp. 4-1 to 4-113): 861-D and 861-E power controls, DC power distribution and harnesses, the H7420 processor supplies with H744 and 5411086 regulators, the MJ11 and MK11 memory supplies, and maintenance, adjustment, fault isolation and removal procedures, including a regulator troubleshooting chart (Table 4-20) and bench test.
  5. Maintenance: troubleshooting guidelines and flowchart, dead-machine checks, toggle-in routines, cabling, registers, indicators and jumpers, maintenance cards, and the 11/70 diagnostics.

Appendices: module removal, IC replacement, configuration labels, IC descriptions, preventive maintenance schedule (E), equipment specifications (F), wire trough system (G), block diagram (H).

It does not contain module schematics or component values; those are in the maintenance print sets (MP-00822 for the KB11-C, MP-00823 for the KB11-B) and the regulator drawings.[2]
