What this manual does not contain

[edit | edit source]

Each sheet is a type-model table (processor, memory, screen, disk, optical drive, communications, preload and availability date) followed by the common specifications. There are no FRU part numbers, procedures, voltages or schematics, and no R series models.

What it settles

[edit | edit source]

The ThinkPad A20m sheet (p. 2) is typical: type-models 2628-11U, 2628-12U, 2628-14U and 2628-1TU are all Celeron 500 MHz with 64 MB, a 12.1-inch SVGA screen, a 6 GB disk and a 24X-10X CD-ROM, and differ in modem or Ethernet fit and in whether Windows 98 Second Edition or Windows 2000 was preloaded.

The hardware maintenance manuals are organised by machine type, so this reference is a way to identify a machine from the type-model on its label before choosing a manual.
