Welcome to the MSX category! MSX is a standardised home computer architecture launched in Japan in 1983 by ASCII Corporation and Microsoft, built under licence by every major Japanese consumer-electronics maker โ Sony, Panasonic, Sanyo, Toshiba, JVC, Mitsubishi, Canon, Casio, Pioneer, Yamaha โ plus Philips, Spectravideo, Daewoo, Goldstar, and Sharp/Epcom. Four generations were produced (MSX, MSX2, MSX2+, and MSX TurboR) between 1983 and 1995. This category collects maintenance, troubleshooting, and recap guides across the entire MSX family.
Each system features:
- Maintenance procedures common to MSX, MSX2, MSX2+, and TurboR machines
- Per-model troubleshooting (RAM faults, sound chip failures, key matrix repair)
- Capacitor replacement specifications by manufacturer and model
- Standard-level documentation for MSX-Engine, FM-PAC, SCC and other peripherals
