Help:Page history

From RetroTechCollection

Every page on the RetroTechCollection Wiki keeps a complete record of its changes. Open it with the History tab at the top of the page, or with the keyboard shortcut Alt+Shift+H (Ctrl+Option+H on a Mac).

Reading the history

[edit source]

Each line shows the date and time of the edit, the editor (a username, or an IP address for edits made without logging in), the size of the page after the edit and the change in size, and the edit summary. A bold "m" marks a minor edit.

  • Click the date to see the page as it was after that edit.
  • "cur" shows the difference between that version and the current page.
  • "prev" shows the difference between that version and the one before it.
  • To compare any two versions, select them with the buttons on the left and click Compare selected revisions.

Edits held for moderation do not appear in the history until a moderator has approved them.

Undoing an edit

[edit source]

To undo a single edit, click "undo" next to it in the history, or at the top of its diff. MediaWiki shows the page without that edit. Add the reason to the edit summary and save. Undo works only if later edits have not changed the same text; if they have, edit the page by hand.

Restoring an older version

[edit source]

Open the old version by clicking its date, click Edit, and save it with a summary saying which version you restored and why. This replaces the current text with the old version, including any later changes you may want to keep, so check the diff first.

Reverting vandalism

[edit source]

Twinkle adds one-click revert links to diffs and page histories for autoconfirmed users who turn it on; see RetroTechCollection:TW. Warn the user if it is appropriate; see RetroTechCollection:Blocking policy.
