The IBM Mobile Systems ThinkPad 390/i Series 1700 (2626, 2627) Hardware Maintenance Manual is IBM's service manual for the ThinkPad 390 and the i Series 1700, form number S10L-9626-00, part number 10L9626, First Edition (November 1998), 101 pages. The title gives machine types 2626 and 2627. The later 390E has its own manual.

What this manual does not contain

The manual works at FRU level. It has no schematics and no component values, and a system board is a single part number. The only capacitor it mentions is the "bulging capacitor" hazard in the safety inspection guide.

What it settles

The power system checkout (pp. 28-30) gives the AC adapter output as +14.5 to +17.0 V dc at pin 1, and treats a battery as discharged below 10.6 V (lithium-ion) or 9.6 V (NiMH), measured between terminals 1 and 7. There is no backup battery voltage check in this manual.
