Power Macintosh 7200 Logic Board Schematic
Appearance
The Main Logic Board Schematic, PCB 820-0583 is Apple Computer's drawing set for "Catalyst", the Power Macintosh 7200 logic board, scanned as 31 PDF pages. The title block reads "CATALYST-PREVALFINAL2", "RELEASE V7" and is stamped PREVALIDATION, so it is a pre-production release, not the final production drawing. Sheet numbers below are the drawing's own; PDF page numbers are given where they differ.
Contents
[edit | edit source]Sheet list from the title sheet:
- Revision history and notes, table of contents, reference designator map
- PowerPC 601 processor and diagnostics port; 601 voltage regulator; L2 cache; Bandit PCI bridge; Platinum memory controller; Iridium memory data buffer; ROM and address latch
- 10 Soldered VRAM, bank 0 low (1 MB); 11 VRAM DIMM connectors; 12 DRAM DIMM connectors
- 13 Video D/A converter; 14 Clocks; 15 PCI expansion slots
- 16 Grand Central I/O controller; 17 Curio Ethernet, serial and SCSI controller; 18 Serial port transceivers and connectors; 19 External SCSI terminator and connector, internal floppy port; 20 NVRAM and address latch
- 21 AWACS audio input and output
- 22 ADB, supply connectors, power and reset switches (Cuda)
- 23 Pull-ups and pull-downs; 24 Test points; 25 HSL and PCB stack-up data
- Bill of materials (PDF pp. 28–31): job "catalyst-evt2-v11c.bom", dated 31 March 1995, with value, voltage and tolerance for each part, battery, battery holder and fuse part numbers, and a "no stuff" list
What it settles
[edit | edit source]- Sheet 22: the 22-pin main power connector J9 (+5 V, ground, −12 V, trickle 5 V, the PFW power-on line and +12 V through fuse F5, 2.5 A) and the 10-pin 3.3 V supply connector J13 with its sense lines; battery BT1 3.6 V.
- The polarised capacitors drawn on the board, used for Power Macintosh 7200 Capacitor Replacement Guide.
- The BOM's battery lines: 3.6 V battery 742-0029 in a 1/2 AA holder 525-0055 with cover 520-0344.
What this document does not contain
[edit | edit source]- The bill of materials is an EVT2 pre-production list, and many of its capacitor designators do not match the drawing sheets: it lists C36, C37, C67, C85, C87, C94 and C99 as 0.01 µF ceramics, where sheet 22 draws them as 47 µF 16 V. Sheet 2's designator table is itself marked obsolete. Read values from the drawing sheets, not the BOM.
- No power supply schematic and no processor card or cache module drawing.
- Some text is faint in the scan, and there are handwritten changes on the BOM pages.
Service procedures are in Power Macintosh 7200 Series/WS 7250 Service Source.
