StyleWriter 1200 Service Source
The StyleWriter 1200 volume of Apple's Service Source is the service manual for the Apple StyleWriter 1200 ink-jet printer. The PDF has 72 pages and a text layer; it was produced in FrameMaker 5.1 and its metadata is dated 1997.[1] It describes the printer by its differences from the Apple StyleWriter II, and its symptom charts and take-apart procedures follow those of the StyleWriter II Service Source.

What it settles
[edit | edit source]- The 1200's print modes: Best at 720 × 360 dpi with edge smoothing for black and white (360 × 360 dpi for greyscale), Normal at 360 × 360 dpi and Draft at 180 × 180 dpi; Apple's names for the new modes are Fine and Smooth (pp. 4 and 12).[1]
- The physical changes from the StyleWriter II: one rubber roller on each front out-feed roller, a new sheet feeder and feed-roller cover, and no wheel on the carriage (p. 4).[1]
- The electrical rating: 120 V AC 60 Hz 1.0 A, or 210-240 V AC 50 Hz 0.5 A, 48 W maximum (p. 16). Apple's specification sheet gives 19.5 W.[1]
- Service part numbers shared with the StyleWriter II, and the 1200's own whole-unit numbers 661-0242 (110 V) and 661-0243 (220 V) (p. 71).[1]
What it does not contain
[edit | edit source]There is no theory of operation, no schematic, no voltage or resistance checks and no board-level parts: the logic board and power supply appear in the exploded view only as part of the whole unit, and most symptom charts end in "Replace printer". The fuse procedure does not give a current rating; the exploded view lists 125 V and 250 V fuses.[1]
