Hardware content
[edit | edit source]Section IV is the part most useful for repair. Its tables cover keyboard protocols and key codes, the RAM layouts and memory maps of the Macintosh 128K, 512K, Plus, SE and II, parameter RAM, the real-time clock, VIA and SCC registers, disk control lines, the 680x0 processors and NuBus addressing.[4] The "Pinouts and Connectors" group gives pinouts for the 68000, 68020, 68881 and 68851, the SIMM connector, ADB, NuBus, the SE expansion connector, the serial ports of the 128K/512K (DB-9) and Plus/SE/II (Mini-8), ImageWriter, LaserWriter and Apple Modem serial connectors, the external floppy connector, the SCSI connector, the sound jack, the 128K/512K/Plus keyboard and mouse connectors, and the Macintosh II video card.[4] For example, the mouse connector table gives +5 V on pin 2 with ground on pins 1 and 3, and the keyboard and mouse tables note: "Do not draw more than 200ma at +5V from all connectors."[3] The printer tables include ImageWriter DIP switch settings.[4]
It has no schematics, component values or service procedures; Apple's service manuals are in Category:Apple Service Source. The hosted scan is 485 PDF pages, covers included.
