VT320 Pocket Service Guide (EK-VT320-PS-001)

DEC's field service guide, order number EK-VT320-PS-001, first edition, July 1987. The scan, from VT100.net, has 62 pages and no text layer; printed page numbers run six behind the PDF page numbers.

Contents: "About This Guide", with the models and tools (pp. v to vi); 1 troubleshooting and testing: flowchart (Figure 1-2, p. 3), troubleshooting table (Table 1-1, pp. 4 to 6), self-tests (Table 1-2, p. 10), printer problems and error codes (Table 1-3, p. 18); 2 removal and replacement of the access cover, power supply assembly, CRT/bezel/yoke assembly with anode discharge (p. 25) and CRT disposal, the monitor and logic with arc protection assembly (with the CRT maker jumpers, p. 33) and the keyboard; 3 aligning the video monitor (pp. 35 to 40); 4 using set-up; appendices A options and documentation, B models and recommended spares (pp. 47 to 48), C physical/functional diagrams.

It works at the level of replaceable units and has no component data.

Installing and Using the VT320 Video Terminal (EK-VT320-UU-001)

The user's manual for the international model, order number EK-VT320-UU-001, first edition, June 1987, 122 pages with a text layer. DEC published a separate edition, EK-VT320-UG, for the North American model.

Contents: 1 installation; 2 a look at the terminal, including the CRT saver (p. 11); 3 the keyboard; 4 set-up; 5 composing characters; 6 printing; 7 solving problems and getting service (operating problems and screen error messages, pp. 56 to 57); appendices A specifications (p. 60), B options and documentation, C communication, D keyboards, E control function summary. VT100.net has an HTML edition.

VT320 Field Maintenance Print Set (MP02509-01)

DEC's print set, order number MP02509-01, contents sheet K-TC-VT320-0-0 at revision E (July 1987), 58 pages. It covers the VT320-A2 to VT320-J2 and later variations.

Contents (from the contents sheet): drawing directory and unit assembly; monitor and logic control modules 5417189 and 5417277 (schematics, unit assemblies, parts lists); power supplies 5417191 and 5417279; arc protection module 5417339; CRT/bezel/yoke assembly 7024240; power supply assembly 7024244; cover and bottom assemblies; and the monitor and logic with arc protection assembly 7024577. The 5417191 power supply parts list is on PDF pp. 25 and 26. The text layer is OCR of poor quality; read values from the page images.

The VT320 uses the LK201 keyboard, whose print set is on VT220 Documentation. DEC also published a VT320 Programmer Reference Manual (EK-VT320-RM) and a VT320 Video Terminal IPB (EK-VT320-IP) with part numbers for the replaceable units. Bitsavers holds an earlier April 1987 set of VT320 engineering drawings, a July 1987 issue of MP02509 before revision E, and a separate VT320 schematic scan.
