The Macintosh Performa 630CD is a consumer-oriented personal computer manufactured by Apple Computer and released on July 18, 1994.[1] It is a rebrand of the Macintosh LC 630 for the consumer retail market, featuring a 2× CD-ROM drive in addition to the base Performa 630 configuration.

The Performa 630CD was bundled with consumer software including ClarisWorks, At Ease, Quicken, and additional CD-ROM titles.

Architecture and Processor

[edit | edit source]

The Performa 630CD uses a Motorola 68LC040 processor running at 33 MHz. The "LC" designation indicates the processor lacks an integrated floating-point unit (FPU). The system bus operates at 33 MHz, and the system includes 1 MB of ROM.

Memory and Storage

RAM Configuration

[edit | edit source]

The system ships with 4 MB of RAM soldered to the logic board. A single 72-pin SIMM socket allows expansion up to 36 MB total. 80 ns non-parity SIMMs are required.[2]

  • 250 MB IDE hard drive
  • 2× Apple CD 300i plus CD-ROM drive (SCSI internally)
