Apple Computer, Power Macintosh/Performa 5400 and 5500 Series — Service Source. Apple's module-level service manual for the 15-inch all-in-one PowerPC machines that followed the 5200/5300 and 5260/5280 families.
This volume had no documentation page on this wiki, although several article pages cite it. The figures below are transcribed from its Specifications and Adjustments chapters.

Adjustments — what is in this volume, and what is not
[edit | edit source]The Adjustments chapter is Geometry and Video, and Apple names the controls:
- VR701 — horizontal size and centring (Apple notes the centring can be done with VR701 alone)
- VR601
- On the CRT/video board: VR301, VR302 (red gain), VR303 (green gain),
VR304 (red bias), VR305 (green bias)
There is no High Voltage topic in this volume, and no rail tolerance anywhere in it. The 29.5 V DC ± 0.1 V high-voltage adjustment that exists for the 5200 and 5300 — set at VR501 or VR702 against the cathode of D713 or D703 — is marked by Apple "not for 5260, 5280" and does not appear here either. A reader adjusting a 5400 to 29.5 V would be following a procedure for a different machine.
The "+5 V 4.85–5.15 V / +12 V 11.90–12.75 V" pair that circulates on this wiki is Apple's Macintosh Plus and 128K/512K voltage adjustment, measured at the external drive port with voltage test cable 077-0135.
Two cautions in Apple's own figures
[edit | edit source]The DIMM specification changes within the 5400 range. 70 ns, 2K refresh DIMMs for the 120/160/180; 60 ns, 5-volt buffered EDO for the 5400/200 and the whole 5500 series. The sockets look the same.
Apple's weight figure in this volume is internally contradictory and should not be quoted: it prints "Without CD-ROM: 17 lb. With CD-ROM: 19 lb. (21.15 kg)". 19 lb is 8.6 kg, and 17/19 lb is what the LC 630 volume gives for a much smaller machine. The metric figure is the plausible one for a 15-inch all-in-one.
